The Record Searchlight welcomes guest columns addressing local political and social issues. No more than one Letter to the Editor or Speak your Piece column (either one or the other) from a contributor will be published in a 30-day period.
Letters - less than 200 words; they are subject to editing.
Letters must include the author’s full name, daytime phone number, and home address.
(Only your name and hometown will be published).
Letters must be typed into the body of the email or attached in a Microsoft Word document. No PDFs.

Columns - no more than 600 words.
Stick to a single topic and avoid personal attacks.
Include the author's photo and contact info (typically an e-mail address) with the column.
Record Searchlight may edit and republish (including electronically) all columns.
Columns that have been submitted for publication elsewhere are not accepted.
